Versatile lineman is SU's fourth mid-year signee
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Offensive lineman Patrick Davis has signed his financial aid agreement with Syracuse University and is expected to join the Orange football team later this month, head coach Dino Babers announced on Thursday, Jan. 5.
Â
An ESPN three-star prospect, Davis played center, guard and tackle at Champlain Regional College in Lennoxville, Quebec from 2014-16. He led the Cougars to a pair of appearances in the provincial championship (Bol d'Or), including winning the title in 2015 to cap an 11-0 season.
Â
In 2014, Davis anchored a Cougars' offensive line that was integral to Champlain-Lennoxville leading CEGEP Division I in total offense. Following the season, he was selected to play for the Canadian U-19 team in the 2015 International Bowl, a postseason all-star game between Canada and the United States featuring some of the top college prospects from both countries.
Â
A three-time league all-star, Davis was named the 2016 CEGEP Division I Offensive Line Player of the Year as a senior after powering the Cougars to an 8-3 record and a berth in the provincial semifinals.
Â
Prior to attending Champlain-Lennoxville, Davis attended for Phénix Nicolas-Gatineau Secondary School and was named one of the top 10 players in Quebec for his grade level.
Â
Davis is the Orange's fourth mid-year signee, joining junior college All-Americans Ryan Guthrie, Ravian Pierce and fellow incoming freshman Nadarius Fagan.
Â
Syracuse went 4-8 in Babers' first season as head coach. The Orange set or tied more than 40 offensive records in 2016 and defeated ACC Coastal Division champ Virginia Tech for the program's first win against a ranked opponent since 2012.
