Trotter Eclipses 1,000 Assists In Syracuse Victory Over Wake Forest

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Jalissa Trotter eclipsed the 1000-assist milestone and the Syracuse women's volleyball team defeated Wake Forest 3-1 (25-18, 25-17, 18-25, 25-13) Sunday afternoon in an ACC matchup. With the victory, the Orange improves to 11-6 overall and 3-1 in the ACC. Wake Forest drops to 10-6 and 2-2.
Ella Saada led 'Cuse with 13 kills and 8 digs. Trotter dished out a team-high 28 assists and Belle Sand recorded a team-leading 14 digs.
How It Was Decided
Syracuse broke open a 7-7 first set with a 10-3 scoring run. A block by Christina Oyawale and Santita Ebangwese capped off a 25-18 triumph.
'Cuse continued to roll in set number two. The Orange jumped out to a 17-7 advantage and controlled the remainder of the set. An Anastasiya Gorelina kill capped off a 25-17 victory.
Wake Forest went on a late run to take the third set, 25-18.
Syracuse dominated the fourth set. The Orange jumped out to a 16-4 lead and used an Oyawale kill to pick up the 25-13 triumph.
Coach's Thoughts
"Wake Forest is a team that has improved a lot," said head coach Leonid Yelin. "The match was very similar to Duke on Thursday. We played very well in the first two sets and were able to come back and win the fourth after losing the third."
Of Note
Syracuse improves to 5-0 all-time against Wake Forest. The two sides will meet again at the Women's Building on Nov. 17.

Syracuse returns home to face Clemson on Friday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m. in the Women's Building
