SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Orange junior quarterback Eric Dungey is up for a pair of national quarterback awards for his performance in Syracuse's 27-24 victory over No. 2 Clemson. Dungey was named to the Davey O'Brien "Great 8" list for Week 7 of the college football season on Monday, Oct. 16. He was also tabbed a Manning Award "Star of the Week."
Â
The honors are the latest plaudits for Dungey, who earlier Monday was voted the co-ACC Offensive Back of the Week after throwing for 278 yards and three touchdowns against the Tigers. He also added 61 rushing yards to finish with 339 yards of total offense in the victory.
Â
Dungey's three touchdown passes match his career high. In addition, he joined the Syracuse 1,000-yard rushing club, becoming the sixth Orange signal-caller to reach that milestone.
Â
All 130 FBS quarterbacks are eligible for the Davey O'Brien Quarterback of the Week Award. The winner, which will be one of the week's "Great 8" quarterbacks, will be announced tomorrow. Along with Dungey, J.T. Barrett (Ohio State), Mason Fine (North Texas), Will Grier (West Virginia), Conner Manning (Georgia State), Shea Patterson (Ole Miss), Khalil Tate (Arizona) and Arion Worthman (Air Force) are in the running for this week's award.
Â
Sponsored by the Allstate Sugar Bowl, the folks at the Manning Award also took note of Dungey, naming him one of their eight "Stars of the Week." College football fans can visit the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page now to vote for who they think had the best performance this past weekend. When voting closes at noon on Thursday, the top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.
Â
