GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey, wide receiver Ervin Philips and linebacker Parris Bennett were honored by the Atlantic Coast Conference on Monday, Oct. 16 for their performances in the Orange's 27-24 victory against No. 2 Clemson Friday.
Â
Dungey was named the league's co-Offensive Back of the Week, sharing the honor with Boston College running back AJ Dillon. The Orange junior signal-caller was 20-of-32 passing for 278 yards and matched his career high with three touchdown passes against the Tigers. Dungey also ran for 61 yards on 21 carries, and in the process, became the sixth quarterback in program history to surpass 1,000 career rushing yards (1,030).
Â
Philips shared ACC Receiver of the Week plaudits with Miami's Darrell Langham. Against Clemson, Philips made four receptions for a game-high 94 yards, including a 66-yard touchdown catch. With the performance, Philips moved into 10th place on the Syracuse career record list for most receiving yardage (1,734).
Â
Monday's award marks the second time this season Philips has been recognized by the conference. He was named ACC Receiver of the Week on Oct. 2 after setting the league single-game record with 17 catches for 188 yards at NC State.
Â
Like Philips, Bennett is now a multiple weekly conference award winner this season. Bennett took home ACC Linebacker of the Week honors for the second time in four weeks after making nine tackles, including the first sack of his career, against Clemson.
Â
Following back-to-back home games, the Orange are back on the road this week. Syracuse travels to Miami for its second straight game against a top-10 opponent. The Orange and the eighth-ranked Hurricanes square off Saturday, Oct. 21 at 3:30 p.m. at Hard Rock Stadium. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
