Philips Named ACC Receiver of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse wide receiver Ervin Philips was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Receiver of the Week on Monday, Oct. 2 for his performance at NC State Saturday.

Philips set a school and ACC record with 17 receptions for a career-high 188 yards against the Wolfpack. His 17 catches are the most for an FBS player in a college football game so far this season.

The 5-11, 181-pound senior accounted for 56.7 percent of the Orange's 30 total receptions against the Wolfpack. He had eight catches for 106 yards in the first half and added nine more for 82 yards in the second half to help Syracuse remain in the game. It was Philips' first 100-yard receiving effort of the season and the third of his career. Â

Philips and the Orange return home this week to host Pittsburgh on Saturday, Oct. 7 at the Carrier Dome. Kickoff is 12:30 p.m. on RSN. Tickets start at $35 and they are available online (Cuse.com/tickets), by phone (888-DOME-TIX) and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B).Â
