ORANGE AGAINST NO. 1
Syracuse will take on the No. 1 ranked team in the nation for the second time in program history. The Orange defeated top-ranked Connecticut, 1-0, in Storrs on Oct. 14, 2000.
SCOUTING THE DEMON DEACONS
Senior Jon Bakero is the nation's leading scorer with 35 points on 11 goals and 13 assists. He also ranks first in the nation in assists and is 10th in total goals. Overall, three Demon Deacons have recorded more than 20 points this season.
Andreu Cases Mundet has played the majority of minutes in goal for Wake Forest. He has a 0.53 goals-against average and a .680 save percentage.
THE SERIES
Wake Forest leads the all-time series with Syracuse, 3-1-1. Prior to last year's 1-1 tie at the SU Soccer Stadium, the home team had prevailed in the previous four meetings.
Last season, the teams met at the SU Soccer Stadium. Miles Robinson was assessed a red card on a corner kick for the Orange at the 5:15 mark, forcing Syracuse to play with just 10 players on the field for the remainder of the match. Wake Forest took the lead in the 23rd minute on a Jon Bakero goal, but the Orange evened the score on Kamal Miller's goal in the 35 minute mark. That was the only scoring in the match as it ended in a 1-1 draw.
