SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's volleyball team hosts Virginia Tech on Friday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m., and Virginia on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 1 p.m. in the Women's Building. The Orange (15-8, 7-3 ACC) is coming off a three-set victory at Clemson on Oct. 22.Â

Ebangwese on the Block
Santita Ebangwese is among the national leaders in total blocks. Entering the weekend, Ebangwese's 116 blocks rank 15th nationally and first in the ACC.     Â

The Hokies
Virginia Tech (8-13, 2-8 ACC) holds a 7-2 all-time series advantage over Syracuse. The Hokies won in four sets one season ago. The last 'Cuse victory came in 2015. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â

Belle Sand has accumulated 52 digs against VT in four career matches. Kendra Lukacs produced 10 kills with 12 digs in last year's meeting. Â

Ester Talamazzi and Jaila Tolbet lead Virginia Tech with 249 and 218 kills, respectively. Rhegan Mitchell has a team-high 793 assists and Carol Raffety has a team-leading 310 digs.

The Cavaliers
The Orange is 6-3 all-time against Virginia (4-17, 0-10 ACC) and is in search of its fifth straight win in the series. 'Cuse took last year's meeting in four sets and has not been defeated by the Cavaliers since 1992.Â

Anastasiya Gorelina led the way with 16 kills and 11 digs. Ebangwese and Lukacs combined for 14 kills with six blocks and Jalissa Trotter added 28 assists. Sand has 49 digs in three matches against Virginia.
Jelena Novakovic leads the Cavaliers with 217 kills on the year. Megan Wilson has a team-high 540 assists, Kelsey Miller leads the team with 251 digs and Chino Anukwuem has a team-leading 53 blocks.Â
Coach's Thoughts
"We need to be consistent this weekend," said head coach Leonid Yelin. "To keep the dream alive, we need to win these two matches at home and prepare to face four good schools on the road."
