THE BOSTON COLLEGE RIVALRY
Syracuse and Boston College are preparing for the 51st meeting between the two gridiron programs. That makes the Eagles the fifth-most familiar foe for Syracuse. Only Pittsburgh (73), Penn State (71), Colgate (67) and West Virginia (60) have played more games against the Orange.
Syracuse has a 31-19 advantage in the overall series. The two rivals first squared off in 1924. The Orange emerged with a 10-0 victory in the initial matchup and went on to win five of the first six pairings. The clubs have competed on a regular basis since 1958 and played every season from 1971-2004.
The Orange and the Eagles shared residence in the BIG EAST Conference until Boston College moved to the Atlantic Coast Conference for the 2005 season. The two teams played each other has fellow ACC inhabitants starting in 2013, a game won by Syracuse, 34-31. The Orange have won three of the four ACC contests with the Eagles.
