
Syracuse Goes 1-1 in Home-Opening Weekend

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse women's tennis lost to Brown University, 6-1, on Sunday afternoon at the Drumlins Country Club. The match closed out the Orange's home-opening weekend with an overall 1-1 record after a win against Buffalo on Saturday.
In doubles, Syracuse claimed the first win at No. 1. Maria Tritou and Nicole Mitchell came out with an impressive 6-2 win. Brown won the second match and so the point came down to No. 3. Miranda Ramirez and Dina Hegab came from behind to tie the match, but lost 7-5 in the tiebreaker.
Ramirez continued her winning ways in singles with a 7-5, 6-3 victory at the three spot. Knutson won her second set at No. 2 after losing the first set, but lost in the third set, 10-5. The match was already clinched when the third set began.
Syracuse will be back in action on Feb. 26 with a road match against Atlantic Coast Conference foe Boston College.
