SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The memory of Dwayne 'Pearl' Washington lives on in many ways, including helping to save the lives of others. The most recent reflection of this is Kinney Drugs honoring Pearl's legacy through the sale of mini #31 jerseys in Kinney's 77 stores across New York State. Each jersey sold was signed and displayed inside Kinney Drugs locations. This initiative raised $36,000, which was donated to benefit pediatric cancer research in the Central New York Community through the Jim & Juli Boeheim Foundation.
Â
"As a local, healthcare company, we are thrilled to be donating to the Jim & Juli Boeheim Foundation to benefit pediatric cancer research," said Judy Cowden, Kinney Drugs senior director of marketing and advertising. "The continued support and generosity of our local customers, employee owners and business partners is unparalleled. They are the reason Kinney Drugs was able to raise $36,000—our largest fundraising initiative to date!"

Â
"We are thrilled to be a part of the project," said Syracuse University head men's basketball coach Jim Boeheim. "It's a lasting tribute to Pearl Washington who has meant more to this program than anybody. We are really grateful to Kinney Drugs to be able to do this and spread this throughout the State of New York."
Â
Coach Boeheim and the Orange host 10th-ranked Duke on Wednesday, February 22 in the Carrier Dome at 7 p.m.. Tickets are available online, by phone (888-DOME-TIX) and at the Carrier Dome Box office (Gate B).
