FOR STARTERS
- The Orange are coming off one of their most emotional wins of the season. Syracuse came from behind to defeat No. 10/11 Duke, 78-75, on a last-second 3-pointer by John Gillon on Wednesday. He led the Orange offense with 26 points, while freshman Tyus Battle added 18 points.
- One of the keys to Syracuse's win against the Blue Devils was the Orange's performance at the free throw line. Syracuse was 22-for-25 from the charity stripe. Gillon hit all five of his attempts, extending his streak of consecutive free throws made to 43, which is a school record.
- Sunday's game is the final regular-season road game for the Orange. Syracuse is 2-9 away from the Carrier Dome this season.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
- Louisville is coming off a 74-63 loss to ACC leader North Carolina on Wednesday night. The Cardinals are now 22-6 overall, 10-5 in ACC play.
- Three players are averaging double figures in scoring for Louisville. Donovan Mitchell leads the way, scoring 15.8 points per game. Quentin Snider is second on the squad in scoring (12.4 ppg.) and has dished out a team-best 88 assists.
- Rick Pitino is in his 16th season at the helm of the Louisville program. He guided the Cardinals to the 2013 national championship.
SERIES HISTORY
Sunday's contest marks the 26th meeting between the squads. Louisville leads the series, 17-8. The teams met on Feb. 13 in the Carrier Dome. The Orange overcame a 14-point first-half deficit to force overtime, but the Cardinals prevailed, 76-72.
