Top-10 Matchup Awaits Orange

Following a 14-13 loss to Army West Point, the Syracuse men's lacrosse team fell to No. 10 in the latest Maverik Media Poll, setting up the first top-10 matchup of the 2017 season against No. 9 Virginia on Sunday.
The Orange (2-1) received 326 points in the poll, three behind the Cavaliers.
Maryland (595 points, 14 first place votes) and Denver (595 points, 12 first place votes) are tied atop the standings again. A pair of future Orange opponents sit in third and fourth, with Johns Hopkins (574 points, five first place votes) and Notre Dame (519 points) occupying those spots. Penn State ranks fifth with 442 points to round out the top-five.
In addition to Hopkins, Notre Dame and Virginia, North Carolina (No. 7) and Duke (No. 20) await the Orange this season as well. Following their win, Army climbed to No. 16 in the poll this week, with Albany, who Syracuse defeated in the second game of the season, checking in at No. 15.
