Orange Up Two Spots in USILA Poll

The Syracuse men's lacrosse team (4-1, 1-0 ACC) moved up to No. 6 in the NIKE/USILA Coaches Poll after a 9-8 victory over St. John's in what was their fourth-straight one-goal game.
Denver is the new No. 1 after defeating now No. 3 Notre Dame 11-10 on Sunday, with the Pioneers collecting 290 points and eight of the 15 first-place votes. Penn State received 282 points and five first place votes to earn the No. 2 ranking this week, followed by the Fighting Irish's 268 points.
Big Ten squads Maryland (263 points, two first place votes) and Rutgers (238 points) sit ahead of the Orange in fourth and fifth respectively. Syracuse garnered 201 points to move up two spots this week.
Johns Hopkins, Syracuse's opponent this week, slipped to No. 14 following a loss to now No. 10 Towson on Saturday. In addition to the Blue Jays, Syracuse will face No. 3 Notre Dame, No. 7 North Carolina, and No. 12 Duke later this season. 'Cuse's past opponents are also well represented in the poll, with Army joining the top-10 at No. 8, Albany checking in at No. 9 and Virginia ranked No. 13.
SU's game at Hopkins will face off at 4 p.m. on Saturday and will be broadcast on ESPN3.
