Williams Earns ACC Weekly Honor

For his performance down the stretch at North Carolina, which saw him win nine of the final-11 faceoffs in a come from behind victory over the No. 17 ranked Tar Heels, Orange faceoff man Ben Williams has been named ACC Defensive Player of the Week.
Williams won 34-of-50 faceoffs (.680 percent) in a pair of wins for the top-ranked Orange, including 15-of-25 in a thrilling overtime win at No. 17 North Carolina that gave the Orange the ACC regular-season title and the top seed in next week's ACC Championship.
In Saturday's win over the North Carolina, Williams – a major in finance and accounting at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management - won nine of the final 11 restarts against the Tar Heels to give the Orange enough possessions to come back from a five-goal deficit. Williams also won the critical overtime faceoff, in which he's 3-for-3 this season. In his last-three games, Williams has won 51-of-78 faceoffs (.654).
Williams and the Orange will take on Binghamton on Senior Day in the Carrier Dome at 2 p.m. on Saturday. That game will be broadcast on Spectrum Sports, ACC Network Extra and TK99/105.
