4/3/2017 10:41:00 AM | Men's Lacrosse
The Syracuse men's lacrosse team (7-1, 3-0 ACC) earned the No. 2 spot in this week's Maverik Media Poll, up two spots from last week, following an 11-10 win at previous No. 1 Notre Dame on Saturday.
Undefeated Penn State (10-0) is this week's new No. 1, collecting 665 points and 24 of the 34 first place votes. 'Cuse grabbed 646 points and nine first place votes, with Hofstra (580 points, one first place vote) as the lone other school to be put at No. 1 by any media member in their poll. Notre Dame (565) dropped to No. 4 after falling to the Orange this weekend, while Denver (497) grabbed the No. 5 spot.
Syracuse has two games against ranked opponents in the media poll remaining on its regular season schedule, facing No. 19 North Carolina in Chapel Hill on April 15 and hosting No. 20 Binghamton on Senior Day April 22.
Besides the Fighting Irish, 'Cuse has already faced No. 6 Army, No. 7 Albany, No. 10 Duke, No. 11 Johns Hopkins and No. 12 Virginia this season.
The Orange return to action on Wednesday at Hobart, continuing one of the nation's longest series in what will be the 103rd meeting between the programs. Faceoff will be at 7 p.m. in Geneva, N.Y. with the game set to be broadcast on Spectrum Sports.
