6/16/2017 1:41:00 PM | Men's Basketball
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse will host long-time rival Cornell in its 2017-18 men's basketball season opener on Friday, November 10, in the Carrier Dome.
Syracuse has a 91-31 advantage in the series with Cornell and the Orange have captured the most recent 37 pairings. The Syracuse-Cornell matchup is the second-most frequent in Orange history, just behind the meetings between Syracuse and Colgate.
The Big Red were 8-21 overall and 4-10 in the Ivy League last season, Coach Brian Earl's first at the helm. Top scorers Matt Morgan (18.9 ppg.), a guard, and forward Stone Gettings (12.4 ppg.), are both back on the Cornell roster. One Big Red program newcomer is freshman forward Jimmy Boeheim, the son of Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim.
Syracuse was 19-15 and reached the second round of the NIT last season.
Coach Jim Boeheim, who ranks second in career wins among Division I coaches, enters his 42nd season as Syracuse head coach.
Syracuse season tickets start at $250. They can be purchased on-line, by phone (1-888-DOMETIX) and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B). There are limited courtside seats still available as well as Executive Club Suite access packages. Group ticket deposits can be purchased.
