Syracuse's Busiest Rivalry Renewed

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse and Central New York neighbor Colgate will meet in men's basketball for the 170th time on Saturday, December 9, in the Carrier Dome. The Raiders are the most frequent opponent in Orange hoop history.
Syracuse has won 51 straight matchups with Colgate, including an 83-55 decision in the 2016 season opener.
Colgate was 10-22 overall and 8-10 in the Patriot League last year. Coach Matt Langel enters his seventh season at the Raider helm.
Langel's program returns 93 percent of its scoring production from last year's squad. Top returning players include sophomore forward Will Rayman (14.6 ppg.), senior guard Sean O'Brien (12.5 ppg., 4. 1 apg.), and senior forward Jordan Swopshire (10.3 ppg.)
Syracuse was 19-15 and reached the second round of the NIT last season.
Coach Jim Boeheim, who ranks second in career wins among Division I mentors, enters his 42nd season as SU head coach.
