
Josh Allen Medically Disqualified

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Redshirt junior defensive lineman Josh Allen has been medically disqualified from participation in football at Syracuse University after being diagnosed with a cardiac condition. Allen, a junior-college transfer, joined the Orange earlier this month in preparation for the start of preseason camp.

Allen previously played two seasons at Long Beach City College in California. In 21 career games for the Vikings, he recorded 88 tackles, including 29 for a loss, and 9.5 sacks. As a freshman in 2014, Allen earned Southern California Football Association (SCFA) All-Central League Second Team honors after carding 58 tackles, including 17 for a loss, and seven sacks in 11 games.

Syracuse opens fall camp Sunday, July 30 and begins the 2017 campaign at home Friday, Sept. 1 against Central Connecticut State.Â
