Alumni rowing and SARA Hall of Fame induction highlight event
LIVERPOOL, N.Y. – The Syracuse men's and women's rowing programs, in conjunction with the Syracuse Alumni Rowing Association (SARA), hosted the fifth annual "Evening at Ten Eyck" event on Saturday at the James A. Ten Eyck Memorial Boathouse.
"This event has been huge for us over the last five years," head men's rowing coach Dave Reischman said. "It's really our chance to thank our alumni for everything they do. Like most rowing programs in the country, our alumni and the support they give us year-round is absolutely essential."
"Having the alumni come back to Syracuse is a joy for the coaches and the undergraduates," head women's rowing coach Justin Moore stated. "I am always struck at how after the event occurs the undergraduates come up to me and tell me stories about somebody they met. The young men and women are listening. They want to know about that."
The day consisted of alumni racing in the morning and afternoon on the Onondaga Lake Outlet and the 2017 SARA Hall of Fame induction. The 2017 Hall of Fame class included George Blum '37, Bill Hider '63, Dick Horstman '57, Chris Liwski '02, and Arthur Osman '07.
The men's rowing team will open their autumn campaign at the Head of the Charles, the world's largest two-day regatta, in Cambridge, Mass., while the women will kick things off at the Collegiate Small Boat Challenge in West Windsor, N.J.
