
Hilpert, Martin named Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week

Syracuse men's soccer's Hendrik Hilpert and field hockey's Jamie Martin are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 29.

Hilpert, a senior from Eiterfeld, Germany, is pursuing a degree in finance from the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. He is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-America and All-District honoree. Hilpert received the Martin J. Whitman School of Management Freshman of the Year award as well as earning Athletic Director's Honor Roll accolades every semester he's been at Syracuse.

Hilpert has started in goal in all 16 games this season for the Orange. He is currently tied for third place on the school's career shutouts list (22) and ranks fourth in career wins (35). This season, Hilpert has recorded four shutouts including an eight-save match against Cornell. Hilpert earned National Player of the Week accolades following a five save performance that helped the Orange upset then-No. 1 Wake Forest.

Martin is a redshirt junior from Lititz, Pa., who is graduating in May with a degree in entrepreneurship and emerging enterprises in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. In 2015, Martin was name to the NFHCA All-Academic Squad.

Martin has appeared in all 14 games this season for the Orange, including 11 starts. She recorded a season-high four shots and three shots on goal Syracuse's season opening victory over Vermont. In 2016, Martin participated in the USA Field Hockey Young Women's National Championship, which serves as a selection venue for the Women's National Team.

Hilpert and the men's soccer team are set to open action at the ACC Men's Soccer Championship Oct. 31. The No. 10 seed, the Orange will face-off against No. 7 seeded Virginia Tech at 7 p.m.

Martin and the Orange field hockey team head south to Chapel Hill, N.C. for the 2018 ACC Field Hockey Championship. The seven-seed 'Cuse will play No. 2 seed Duke on Thursday, Nov. 1 live on ACC Network Extra at 1:30 p.m.
