Syracuse University athletics is adding Dr. Andrew T. Goodrich to its senior leadership team as the deputy athletics director/chief marketing officer. A native of Owego, N.Y., Goodrich joins Syracuse after serving as the senior associate athletics director for external relations at the University of South Florida since 2014. Goodrich is familiar with the Atlantic Coast Conference, having worked at the University of Miami and Notre Dame.
Â
"The combination of Andrew's experience in intercollegiate athletics at three prominent schools and his passion for Syracuse Athletics is tremendous," said Syracuse Director of Athletics John Wildhack. "His success in growing attendance in football and men's and women's basketball, and his expertise in marketing and fan experience will aid us in expanding the impact and reach of the Syracuse brand. We welcome Andrew and his wife, Erika, to the Orange family."
Â
At South Florida, Goodrich was responsible for leading the Bulls' business strategy, revenue generation, ticket operations, ticket sales, corporate sponsorship, merchandising, and USF Athletics licensing (CLC) initiatives. Additionally, Goodrich supervised marketing and strategic communications which included digital and social media strategy, Bulls Vision audio/video production, branding, and in-game presentation/fan experience enterprises.
Â
"As an Upstate New York native, I have a deep reverence for the Syracuse University brand and its athletic history," Goodrich said. "I am proud to join the team and to work to uphold the very high standards of the University and department. I look forward to meeting and exceeding our collective goals as we serve the student-athletes, staff, alumni, fans, and greater Syracuse community."
Â
Goodrich spearheaded USF's efforts to help become recognized as one of the nations' leaders in the use of the most sophisticated strategic communications, marketing/advertising, sales, and fan-experience tools. Additionally, Goodrich played a key role in several revenue generating contracts, including multi-year deals with Adidas, Fanatics, the Aspire Group, and Follett, in addition to a multi-media rights deal with Tampa Bay Entertainment Properties and naming rights for the Yuengling Center. Goodrich also worked at USF as an assistant athletics director of administration from 2005 to 2010.
Â
At Miami, Goodrich served as the associate athletics director for marketing and sales where he established innovative advertising, promotional and sales strategies via e-commerce, digital, mobile and social media platforms which helped their department establish new attendance records across many sports programs, including football, men's basketball and volleyball.
Â
Prior to working with the Hurricanes, he served as director of athletics at Owego (N.Y.) Free Academy. Before entering a career in athletic administration, Goodrich honed his business and technological skills as a financial analyst with International Business Machines (IBM), where he managed the IBM Global Accounts Payable Business Data Warehouse.
Â
A speaker at numerous NACMA conventions and events, Goodrich earned his doctorate in higher education administration from the University of South Florida in 2015. He also earned an MBA in marketing management from the University of Notre Dame, where he served as a marketing graduate assistant, and a bachelor's degree in business from Cumberland University. At Cumberland, Goodrich earned academic all-conference honors as a baseball student-athlete and was a member of the 1998 team that competed in the NAIA College World Series. Goodrich has also taught business communications, sports marketing, fundraising, and athletic administration courses during his career. He currently serves on the Collegiate Steering Committee for the Sports & Entertainment Alliance with Technology (SEAT) consortium and InStadium Collegiate Team Advisory Council.
