Continued Fall into Winter in Syracuse Athletics
Couldn't contain the excitement. Had to start off my bi-weekly blog with the great news from last night!🚨 The first @CFBPlayoff rankings of 2018 are in.... and we're #19 🚨 pic.twitter.com/M6QwhukmEh

DEFENDING THE DOME
Two weeks ago I felt optimistic and excited as I walked through 'Cuse on the Quad for Orange Central. Fans were upbeat, stopping me and letting me know they loved the changes underway and equally loved the heart of our student-athletes on the football field. We were coming off two close losses on the road, but this team felt different. Over the past two weeks, they have proved us right. Big ACC wins over UNC and #22 NC State, have led to our first ranking in the Top 25 in a long time and wrapped up early bowl eligibility for the Orange.
Great Moments:
FULL STEAM AHEAD
The Women's and Men's Cross Country squads performed very well at the ACC Championships in Boston under new head coach Brien Bell.

BOOST THE 'CUSE
We are strong as an Athletic Department and University, first and foremost because of people. Last Thursday, the University asked all our fans, alumni, faculty, staff and anyone with ties to Syracuse to give. The day was a monumental success. The numbers are still being tallied, but the investment we are all making in our University is securing our future as a leader in academics and athletics. Thank you to everyone who donated to Syracuse Athletics and our University.

DOME TIME
After each of the last two home football games, the Dome changeover crew got to work getting the court ready for our Women's and Men's Basketball teams. We are the only school in the country that can pull off this unique feat. The Athletic Department and Carrier Dome staffs are a solid team.
VOLLEYBALL ROAD WARRIORS
I'm very proud of our Volleyball team and their first road win over a ranked opponent in three years and their first win at Louisville. The team is poised, and we need to make the Women's Building a home court nightmare on Halloween for Boston College!
'CUSE DOES IT!! The Orange upset No. 22 Louisville with their first all-time win at Cardinal Arena

HALLOWEEN IS ALL ABOUT THE ORANGE
We have three teams competing tonight. All three on ACCNE/WatchESPN, but we'd love to have you in the house for two of them(Volleyball and Men's Basketball).
If you can't make up to the Dome or the Women's Building, please flip around and be Orange for Halloween...Otto won't mind.

ASK YOUR QUESTION
Got a good one from Chris over in Baldwinsville, NY:
Chris: Can the Light shows be done for Pre game football as well as Basketball? Orange Glow Sticks in the Dome during shows would be beyond awesome. Great way for kids and fans to interact with a unique wow factor.
JW: One of the great fan enhancements with the Dome in 2020 will be our new sound, lighting and scoreboard show. A lot of what we are doing now to enhance our game day atmosphere, in all sports in the Dome, is to lay the groundwork for 2020. We are committed to being a top venue in collegiate athletics and to give our fans the entertainment they deserve. My team is working every day to find innovative ways to enhance the experience for our fans, and the light shows moving ahead will need to be a part of that. I appreciate your question Chris, and your support.
Please continue to reach out to me with questions and ideas, and we will even address some right here on this blog!
