GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse junior defensive end Alton Robinson was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week on Monday, Oct. 8 for his performance at Pitt Saturday. Robinson registered a career-high eight tackles, including four for a loss, two sacks and two forced fumbles in the Orange's 44-37 overtime loss to the Panthers.
Â
It's the second time in three weeks Robinson has been selected as the conference's defensive lineman of the week. He also earned the honor following his three-sack game Sept. 22 versus Connecticut.
Â
Robinson's four tackles for loss at Pitt were the most for an Orange defender since Brandon Sharpe had six versus Pitt during the 2012 season, and his two caused turnovers led to 10 of Syracuse's 37 points.
Â
Robinson is tied for fourth in the ACC with eight tackles for loss this season. His six sacks are tied with teammate Kendall Coleman and Clemson's Clelin Ferrell for second in the league.
Â
Robinson and the Orange return to action Saturday, Oct. 20 when they host North Carolina at the Carrier Dome. Kickoff between the Orange and Tar Heels is scheduled for 12:20 p.m. on Raycom Sports.
