Dungey Named Manning Award 'Star of the Week'

NEW ORLEANS – Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey has been selected as one of the Manning Award's eight "Stars of the Week" for his performance in the Orange's regular-season finale at Boston College. Dungey accounted for 396 yards of offense and all six Syracuse touchdowns in the Orange's 42-21 victory over the Eagles.

The honor is the latest for Dungey, who earlier Tuesday was selected as the ACC Quarterback of the Week and was voted to the All-ACC Third Team.

College football fans can visit the Allstate Sugar Bowl Facebook page now to vote for who they think had the best performance this past weekend. When voting closes at noon Thursday, the top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week.

In addition to Dungey, Dwayne Haskins (Ohio State), Cole McDonald (Hawaii), Justin McMillan (Tulane), Kellan Mond (Texas A&M), Kyler Murray (Oklahoma), Kyle Shurmur (Vanderbilt) and Tua Tagovailoa (Alabama) are under consideration for this week's Manning honor.

Against Boston College, Dungey was 21-for-34 passing for 362 yards and three TDs. He also rushed 18 times for 34 yards and three scores. In the process, the 6-4, 226-pound senior set a new Syracuse season record with 32 touchdowns responsible for, eclipsing the old mark of 30 established by Donovan McNabb in 1998.

It was Dungey's 11th 300-yard passing game and his second this season.

The 18th-ranked Orange closed the regular season 9-3 and finished second in the ACC Atlantic Division with a 6-2 conference record. Syracuse will learn its bowl destination on Sunday, Dec. 2.
