Mangakahia Named ACC Player of the Week

Syracuse, N.Y. – Overtime hero, Cancun Challenge MVP, and now Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week.
Tiana Mangakahia is this week's ACC Player of the Week after guiding the Orange to three wins in three days and four in a seven-day span. She averaged 18 points, 5.3 rebounds and 7.7 assists at the Cancun Challenge. Her 22 points, including the game-winning layup as time expired in overtime, against No. 16 DePaul on Saturday highlighted a stellar week for Mangakahia.
She earned All-Tournament Team honors and was named the Cancun Challenge Mayan Division MVP. The Brisbane, Australia, native tallied two double-doubles last week. She had 14 points and a season-high 11 assists in a 92-61 win over Princeton and followed that performance with a 22-point, 10-rebound effort against the Blue Demons on Saturday.
Mangakahia went off down the stretch in Syracuse's Cancun Challenge finale. She scored 16 points across the final four minutes of regulation and the overtime period, tallying 11 of the Orange's 13 points for the Orange in the bonus frame.
The Orange head to No. 20 Minnesota Thursday for the ACC/B1G Challenge. The Golden Gophers are Syracuse's fourth nationally opponent this season. Tip-off is slated for 8:30 p.m.
