It's the fourth watch list addition for the 'Cuse senior
After earning enough points by himself to finish 10th as a team at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, Justyn Knight is on The Bowerman Watch List once again.
Â
The Canadian star has been on The Bowerman Watch list on each of the four releases so far this season, an honor that only Florida's Grant Holloway, New Mexico's Josh Kerr and Texas A&M's Ioannis Kyriazis can claim with him.
In addition to those four, USC's Rai Benjamin and Michael Norman, Akeem Bloomfield of Auburn, Houston's Elijah Hall, Penn State's David Lucas and Michael Saruni of UTEP made the cut to the post-indoor 10-man watch list.
Â
The Bowerman is the presented annually to the top male and female collegiate track and field athlete, and the 'Cuse senior is one of ten top athletes recognized on the watch list. The award is considered the highest individual honor in collegiate track and field.
Knight win the NCAA Championship in the 5000-meters and followed it up with a second-place finish in the 3000-meters less than 24 hours later. He now enters his senior outdoor track campaign as a three-time NCAA Champion (2018 indoor 5k, 2017 individual cross country, 2015 team cross country).
He's also a 10-time USTFCCCA All-American (three cross country, seven track and field) and a 15-time ACC Champion (10 individual, five team), making him one of the most decorated athletes in conference history.
Majoring in sociology at the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Knight could become the first Syracuse athlete to win three NCAA Individual NCAA Championships if he can claim another during the outdoor season.
Â
Knight and the Orange will return to action the weekend of March 31, with a pair of events. Sprinters and jumpers will head to the Florida Relays, while the distance crew will race at the Stanford Invitational.
