Harried Named To USA Basketball Staff

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Former Syracuse basketball standout Herman Harried, a successful boys basketball coach and athletic director at Lake Clifton High School in Baltimore, was announced as an assistant coach for the USA Junior National Select Team that will take on the World Select Team in the 21 st annual Nike Hoop Summit at 7 p.m. (PDT) on Friday, April 13 at the Moda Center in Portland, Oregon.
Harried earned four varsity letters between 1985-and-1989 at Syracuse.
Anfernee " Penny" Hardaway, who previously was announced as the USA's assistant coach, is unable to participate after being named on March 20 as the head men's basketball coach at the University of Memphis.
Now in his 21st  season (1997-98 to present) at Lake Clifton, Harried previously led the USA Nike Hoop Summit Team to a win in 2006 and the East Team to a bronze medal in the 2004 USA Basketball Youth Development Festival. As a USA Basketball assistant coach, he was part of USA gold medal winning teams at the 2009 FIBA Americas U16 Championship and the 2010 FIBA U17 World Cup.
Additionally, he served on the USA Basketball Men's Developmental National Team Committee from 2013-16, and he played basketball at Syracuse University from 1984 to 1989.
Harried's Lake Clifton teams have captured four Baltimore city titles, made eight appearances in the Maryland state tournament final four and have won four state titles.
In 2017-18, Harried led Lake Clifton to a 22-5 record and a 2A state championship. In April of 2017, the basketball court at Lake Clifton was named in his honor.
"It's an extremely big honor to work with USA Basketball and to be a part of the Nike Hoop Summit," Harried said. "I've worked with USA Basketball a lot over the years, and it is always a great experience. It is great to be back."
The Nike Hoop Summit is an annual basketball game that pits the best U.S. high school senior boys against top international players from around the world who are 19 years old or younger in a one-game showdown.

DeMatha Catholic High School (Md.) head coach Mike Jones will serve as head coach of the 2018 USA team for the Nike Hoop Summit, which includes: Syracuse Class of 2018 signee Darius Bazley (Princeton H.S./Cincinnati, Ohio); Bol Bol (Findlay College Prep, Nev./Olathe, Kan.); Darius Garland (Brentwood Academy/Brentwood, Tenn.); Tyler Herro (Whitnall H.S./Greenfield, Wis.); Keldon Johnson (Oak Hill Academy/Sterling, Va.); Tre Jones (Apple Valley H.S./Apple Valley, Minn.); Romeo Langford (New Albany H.S./New Albany, Ind.); David McCormack (Oak Hill Academy/Norfolk, Va.); Cameron Reddish (Westtown School/Norristown, Pa.); Anfernee Simons (IMG Academy/Altamonte Springs, Fla.); and Zion Williamson (Spartanburg Day School/Spartanburg, S.C.).
Additionally,  Louis King (Hudson Catholic H.S./Columbus, N.J.) will attend the 2018 Nike Hoop Summit as a member of the U.S. team but is unable to participate due to injury.
