
Fusco, Cross Named Scholar-Athletes of the Week

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Austin Fusco of the men's lacrosse team and Julie Cross of the women's lacrosse team have been named this week's scholar-athletes of the week.
Fusco is a senior from Yorktown Heights, N.Y. pursuing a bachelor's degree in both marketing management and real estate. He is a two-time member of the Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Honor Roll and was tabbed to the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in five semesters during his time with the Orange.
As a defensive middie, Fusco contributes primarily on the back-end of the field, sitting tied for third on the team this season with 11 ground balls. The senior ranks tied for first on the team for caused turnovers with five so far this year. Fusco has appeared in six of the Orange's seven games in 2018.
Cross is a junior midfielder majoring in selected studies in the College of Education. For her academic achievements, the Oreland, Pa. native earned a spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in the spring of 2016.
The junior has started five of her nine games played with the Orange, tallying her first goal of the season against Albany. She paces the team with 30 draw controls on the season in addition to recording a ground ball and a caused turnover.
Fusco and the men's lacrosse team and Cross and the women's lacrosse team are both in action on Saturday in the Carrier Dome for a lacrosse doubleheader. The women's team squares off with Duke at 12 p.m. while the men's team hosts No. 6 Notre Dame at 5 p.m.
