THE VIRGINIA SERIES
- Syracuse and UVA have squared off in 34 meetings and the series is nearly as close as can be.
- Syracuse leads the all-time series 18-16. The Orange have scored 442 goals, UVA has netted 440. The game has been decided by one goal on 15 occasions.
- 'Cuse is riding a four-game winning streak over the Hoos, with Matt Lane notching a career best five points in last year's meeting. Nate Solomon also registered five points in the 2017 win.
- In the earlier matchup this season, Tucker Dordevic became the first true freshman in over a decade to record four goals, including the game-winner in the final seconds.
Â
ORANGE IN THE ACC TOURNAMENT
- This is Syracuse's fifth ACC Tournament, since joining the league in the 2014 season.
- The Orange has reached the title game in three of their first-four appearances, winning a pair of titles in that span (2015, 2016).
- This is the first time that the Orange have met the Hoos in an ACC Tournament game, and the first time that 'Cuse has played the host institution (the first three ACC Tournaments Syracuse was part of were held at neutral sites).
- It's the second-straight season the Orange have been the No. 1 seed, falling the UNC in the semifinals last year as the top-seed, in a wild one-goal contest.
Â
ALL-ACC HONOREES
- Four members of the Orange were selected by the league's head coaches to the All-ACC Team.
- The four selections is the third-most of any school, trailing Duke and Notre Dame with five selections each.
- Brett Kennedy, Nick Mellen, Jamie Trimboli and Nate Solomon were all selected to the squad. Each is a first-time selection.
Â
'CUSE WINS 900th GAME
- Syracuse became the second program in NCAA Divsion I lacrosse history to win 900 games last Saturday.
- Johns Hopkins (979), Syracuse (902) and Maryland (818) are the only three programs with 800 or more wins. Navy is 3 from the plateau and Army is 14.
- There are six other programs in the 700 win club, Johns Hopkins (979), Maryland (818), Navy (797), Army (786), Hobart (767) and Cornell (756). All but the Terps appear on the Orange's 2018 schedule.
Â
CONFERENCE KINGS
- After a win over North Carolina, Syracuse has now extended its winning streak in regular season conference games to nine. Including the ACC Tournament, Syracuse is 11-1 in its last-12 games against ACC competition.
- 'Cuse is 4-0 in league play this season and swept the conference last year. The last time the Orange lost was against Notre Dame in the 2016 season. The streak is the second-longest nationally, trailing only Denver's 25-game conference winning streak dating back to 2013.
- Since joining the ACC in 2014, Syracuse is 14-7 in regular season conference play.
Â
A WIN AGAINST VIRGINIA WOULD...
- Be the program's 903rd victory, second all-time behind Johns Hopkins.
- Improve SU's record to 57-19 since the start of the 2014 season
- Give John Desko his 244th career coaching win, fifth among active Division I coaches and move him into sole possession for 23rd all-time at the NCAA Division I level.
- Advance Syracuse to the ACC Championship game for the fourth time in the last-five seasons.

DOMINANT DOWNERS
- The Syracuse man-down unit entered the game against Notre Dame ranked 59th of 68th nationally, before coming away with an 8-for-8 performance in Saturday's win over Notre Dame and went another 3-for-3 against Hobart, killing 11-straight penalties against them. The Orange killed 1-of-2 against Cornell and 3-of-4 against UNC, and 2-of-3 against Navy making them 17 of their last-20.
- The Orange have risen to 31st overall in the nation (.683) in man-down defense after the five games.
- The 8-for-8 performance is the best in head coach John Desko's 20-year tenure at the helm of the program.
Â
CARDIAC 'CUSE 2.0
- After setting the program record for one-goal games last year at 11, the Orange have already picked up with it again in 2018.
- 16 of Syracuse's last-27 games have now been decided by one goal.
- 'Cuse has been widely successful in those matchups as well, winning 13 of the 16 one-goal games.
Â
TEN BELOW
- Syracuse has won 51-straight games when holding opponents to under 10 goals in a game.
- 31 of those games have come since the start of the 2015 season, including 10 in 2015, 11 in 2016, that year, seven in 2017 and three so far in 2018.
- The last time Syracuse failed to win when keeping its foe to single digits was on April 28, 2012, when the Orange fell at Notre Dame, 8-6.
