Madonna Named National Player of the Week
4/3/2018 11:31:00 AM | Men's Lacrosse
After leading Syracuse to its second-straight win over a top-six opponent, goalkeeper Dom Madonna earned Warrior/US Lacrosse National Player of the Week honors.
The redshirt senior also was named ACC Defensive Player of the Week, after holding No. 6 Notre Dame to just six goals. The total was the fewest 'Cuse has allowed to an ACC team since joining the league in 2013. The Liverpool native secured 13 saves for the Orange, tying his career-high. Madonna made three of his 13 stops during the final quarter of the game, ensuring the Orange 10-6 victory over the Fighting Irish.
The goalie has been a major asset for the Orange this season, making 10+ saves during six of the eight games played. He set his 13-save career-high against No.3 Duke, securing the Orange 15-14 win, and is currently averaging 9.88 saves per game, landing him second in the ACC.
'Cuse is hosting Hobart tonight at 7 p.m. for the Kraus-Simmons Trophy. The game will air on ACC Network Extra and will be broadcasted on TK99/105.
Purchase season or individual game tickets now online at cuse.com/tickets, over the phone at 888-DOME-TIX, or in person at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B).
Tickets for each of Syracuse's four remaining home games cost just $10 for adults and $5 for youth. Students get free admission to all Syracuse men's lacrosse games.
