
Stoner and Affolder Sweep ACC Steeplechase Titles

The Orange swept the ACC Championships in the steeplechase to highlight night two of action at the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Paige Stoner won the women's title by setting a new ACC Championship record and school record in the event, while freshman Noah Affolder picked up his first ACC Championship later in the night.
After two days of competition, the Syracuse men sit in 3rd place with 41 points, while the women are in 9th with 15 points.
Stoner won her race handily, cruising to a win by a staggering 17 seconds, as she finished in 9:50.42. Sydney Leiher finished eighth (10:27.20) and Laura Dickinson (10:45.77) placed ninth. Stoner had previously won the ACC Cross Country Championship earlier this fall.
Affolder crossed the line in 8:46.23, just ahead of teammate Aidan Tooker (8:48.63), who took second.

In addition to the steeplechase success, a number of Orange put themselves in good position to score on tomorrow's final day of competition.
The Orange saw three hurdlers advance to the 110-meter hurdles final, led by Matt Moore, who's time of 14.05 was good for second overall. Angelo Goss (14.08) and Richard Floyd (14.16) took third and fourth, respectively.
David Gilstrap missed a spot in Saturday's final by 0.04 seconds, taking ninth with a time of 14.43 seconds. Kelvin Almonte finished in 11th (15.05), while Jamil Adams placed 13th (16.75). Florida State's Trey Cunningham had the best prelim mark in 13.75 seconds.
Kadejhia Sellers moved herself on to Saturday's final in the 400. She crossed the line in 54.08 seconds to win her heat and automatically advance to tomorrow. Alexis Harper (57.08) and Cheyenne Trigg (59.99) also competed, taking 22nd and 26th, respectively.

Winston Lee continued the trend, crossing the line in 10.54 seconds in the 100-meter dash, to advance to Saturday night's final.
Tia Thevenin took 12th in the 100-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 13.88 seconds. Danielle Delgado finished 15th (13.93), while Aviana Goode placed 19th (14.07).
Goode then set a new personal-best in the women's long jump. Just a day after earning All-ACC honors in the high jump, Goode's mark of 5.68 meters gave her 14th place.
The Orange close out the ACC Championships on Saturday on ACC Network Extra.
