Trio of Orange Crews Finish Seventh at EARC Eastern Sprints

Worcester, Ma. – Ninth-ranked Syracuse earned seventh-place finishes in the varsity eight, second varsity eight and third varsity eight at the EARC Eastern Sprints on Sunday on Lake Quinsigamond.
After placing third in Heat 1, the Orange varsity eight boat was set for the Petite Final in the afternoon. 'Cuse cruised to a win finishing in 6:02.7 while Dartmouth placed second in the race with a time of 6:05.611. The top time belonged to Yale (5:54.7) in the Grand Final who finished ahead of Harvard (second, 5:58.1) and Brown (third, 5:58.2).
In the second varsity eight, Syracuse won the Petite Final clocking a time of 6:04.1. Wisconsin was second across the line with a time of 6:08.6. The Orange placed seventh overall while Princeton's 2V8 took home the gold winning the Grand Final with a time of 5:58.8.
Syracuse's third varsity eight was seeded the highest (sixth) of any Orange crew but after a third-place finish in the morning heat, earned a spot in the Petite Final. Syracuse edged Central New York rival Cornell to win the race and finish seventh overall with a time of 6:03.6 while the Big Red finished in 6:03.7.
In the varsity four, Syracuse finished third behind Northeastern (6:45.3) and Boston University (6:47.5).
