Kick Time Set for Opener at Western Michigan

NEW YORK – The Syracuse football team's 2018 season opener Friday, Aug. 31 at Western Michigan will kick off at 6 p.m. on CBS Sports Network, it was announced today.

The game marks the first time Syracuse and Western Michigan will square off on the gridiron.

The Orange hold an 82-42-4 (.656) record all-time in season-opening games, including a 2-0 mark under head coach Dino Babers. Â The last time Syracuse began a season with a true road game was in 2010. The Orange defeated Akron 29-3 at InfoCision Stadium en route to an 8-5 season that included a victory in the inaugural New Era Pinstripe Bowl.

Syracuse returns 15 starters from last season, including quarterback Eric Dungey who leads all active ACC signal-callers in rushing yards (1,239), rushing touchdowns (20), touchdown passes (40) and total offense (7,711 yards).

The Broncos are coached by former Orange assistant Tim Lester. WMU posted a 6-6 record in 2017, Lester's first year at the helm.

Following their date with the Broncos, the Orange kick off the 2018 home schedule Saturday, Sept. 8 at 3:30 p.m. versus Wagner.
