
Cain, Gatti and O'Hara Taken In ASBA Draft

Former Syracuse standouts Faith Cain, AnnaMarie Gatti and Sydney O'Hara were each selected in the American Softball Association (ASBA) Draft conducted on June 6.
O'Hara, a utility player, was the first pick of the third round and was selected by moh-BEEL! USA. Gatti, a pitcher, was taken by Future 1s as the first selection of the fourth round.Cain, a first baseman, joined Gatti with Future 1s. She was tabbed with the first pick of the 10th round.
The ASBA is a new, four-team league. Contests are scheduled to begin on June 15 and continue until the end of July. The ASBA plans to stream all of its games.
Cain logged most of her time at first base for the Orange. She played in 32 games, including 17 as a starter, and hit .269 with five runs scored and seven RBI.
Gatti was 12-7 with a 3.16 earned run average for Syracuse this spring. She started 23 of the 27 games she appeared in on the hill and totaled 119.2 innings.
O'Hara was a 2017 National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Third-Team All-American at Syracuse. A first baseman and pitcher, O'Hara had a remarkable senior season which featured a .476 against, nine home runs and 42 RBI. In a 2017 game against NC State she set school records for home runs (four) and runs batted in (eight).
As a collegiate pitcher, O'Hara was 31-22 with a 3.28 ERA over four seasons. She made 110 appearances and logged 343.1 innings for the Orange. O'Hara accumulated a school-record 13 saves in her career.
O'Hara earned First-Team All-ACC recognition in 2014 and 2017.
Syracuse, coached by Mike Bosch, finished its 2018 campaign with a 20-18 overall record. The Orange qualified for the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament.
