Two More Orange Heading to U23 Rowing World Championships

Syracuse, N.Y. – Ashley Johnson '18 and incoming graduate student Sydney Michalak will represent the United States at the U23 Rowing World Championships in Poznan, Poland, July 25-29. The duo, who will row as a pair, qualified at trials in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., this past weekend while rowing with Arion, a training club for post-collegiate athletes.
Johnson and Michalak are two of four Orange women competing at the U23 World Championships. Fellow American and rising senior Arianna Lee qualified for the US 4+ boat. Rising junior Lucy Pearce will race for Australia's 8+ crew.
Racing gets underway at the Lake Malta regatta course in the center of Poznan on July 25. Live audio commentary and race tracking will be available for all races. Entries will be released on Wednesday, July 18.
Syracuse is coming off its third-straight at-large bid to the NCAA National Championships where the Orange finished 16th. The 2018 season also marked the second-consecutive year 'Cuse finished as Atlantic Coast Conference Runner-Up.
