SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse University will celebrate all veterans and active-duty military throughout the 2018 football season with the Military Appreciation Program, presented by SEFCU. The eighth annual Military Appreciation Day celebration is Saturday, Sept. 22 when the Orange host Connecticut, while Syracuse's Military Pass provides veterans and active duty military two complimentary tickets to a home football game each month of the season.
Â
The Military Pass is part of Chancellor Kent Syverud's plan to make Syracuse University "the best place for veterans," – a commitment he verbalized during his 2014 inauguration remarks.
Â
"We embrace the opportunity to welcome all veteran and active-duty military to our athletic events through the Military Appreciation Program," said Syracuse Director of Athletics John Wildhack. "The athletics department respects and appreciates those who defend our freedom and will continue to actively participate in Syracuse University's mission as a leader in supporting veterans and military families."
Â
All Orange fans, donors, season ticket holders and businesses are invited to partner with Syracuse Athletics to show their support for and to thank veterans and active-duty military through the 'Cuse for the Troops program by sponsoring a military member's ticket to the Connecticut game. The first 500 tickets for the 'Cuse for the Troops program are sponsored by SEFCU. More details on how to donate tickets is available at www.cuse.com/military.
Â
In addition, the Military Pass offers veterans two complimentary tickets to the Oct. 20 game against North Carolina and the Nov. 9 game against Louisville during Veteran's Day Weekend. On Sept. 22 veterans and active duty military can take advantage of four free tickets to the Syracuse game against Connecticut on Military Appreciation Day, presented by SEFCU. The event will celebrate all service members with activities prior to and throughout the game.
Â
The Military Pass complimentary tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis and must be requested at least five (5) days prior to the game. Veterans and active duty military should register at www.cuse.com/military to reserve tickets, and are encouraged to read the FAQs for more information on how the tickets will be delivered.
Â
If you are unable to sign up for the Military Pass due to the limited games or missed the deadline, you will have the opportunity when gates open on game day to purchase discounted tickets. These tickets will be the best available, reserved upper level corner/end zone seats for $10 each (limit of four) to any of Syracuse's six home games. Military ID must be presented to receive the discount.Â
Â
The Orange begin preseason camp Aug. 2. The season opener is set for Friday, Aug. 31 at Western Michigan. Syracuse's first home game is Saturday, Sept. 8 versus Wagner.
Â
