Orange Travel to UConn for Preseason Finale

STORRS, Conn. – Syracuse closes out its preseason schedule with a scrimmage at Connecticut on Saturday, Aug. 18. Due to inclement weather expected tomorrow night, the game will now be played at 10:30 a.m. in Portland, Conn. The Orange have won each of their previous two exhibition matches.

One of those victories came against Villanova on Wednesday night at the SU Soccer Stadium. Freshman Ryan Raposo scored in the 89th minute to give Syracuse a 2-1 victory against the Wildcats. Senior Hugo Delhommelle converted a penalty kick in the sixth minute to give the Orange an early lead, but Villanova answered with a goal off a free kick in the 62nd minute.

Syracuse has outshot its opponents, 22-6, and held a 15-5 advantage in corner kicks in its two exhibition matches.

The Orange officially open the 2018 campaign with a trip to the West Coast. Syracuse takes on Oregon State on Friday, Aug. 24 before facing Portland on Sunday, Aug. 26.
