GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Orange football team plays its third straight game in the Carrier Dome on Saturday, Sept. 22 when it hosts former BIG EAST rival Connecticut on Military Appreciation Day, presented by SEFCU. The game will begin at 4 p.m. and be televised on ESPNews, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced today.
Â
The Orange are 4-6 all-time against the Huskies, but have won the most recent two meetings, including a 40-10 decision in 2012, the last time Connecticut visited the Dome.
Â
Syracuse is 2-0 overall after picking up wins at Western Michigan in the season opener and against Wagner last Saturday. Connecticut is 0-2, losing to No. 21 UCF at home to start the season and falling at No. 20 Boise State by a score of 62-7 on Saturday. The Orange host Florida State this weekend in their ACC opener, while the Huskies square off against Rhode Island.Â
Â
At halftime of the Connecticut game, Syracuse will retire the jersey of all-time rushing king Joe Morris. Morris' No. 47 jersey will be the fifth one retired in the history of the program. He joins Larry Csonka (39), John Mackey (88), Donovan McNabb (5) and Don McPherson (9) as former Syracuse standouts in that elite group. The No. 44, worn by 25 players, including legendary running backs Jim Brown, Ernie Davis and Floyd Little, is also retired and hangs from the Dome rafters.
Â
In addition to honoring Morris, Sept. 22 is also Military Appreciation Day at the Dome. Multiple recognitions of our nation's servicemen and women are planned.
Â
Active military personnel, veterans, and their families who qualify are eligible for complimentary tickets to the game through the "Cuse for the Troops" ticket program. To receive complimentary tickets, military members should sign up at Cuse.com/military prior to Monday, Sept. 17. Tickets for military personnel are $10 the day of the game.
Season tickets for Syracuse's remaining five home games, including the Connecticut matchup, start at $125. They are on sale now online (Cuse.com/tickets), by phone (888-DOME-TIX) and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B). Single-game tickets to watch the Orange and Huskies start at $25.
