SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse and Purdue have agreed to a two-game, home-and-home football series set for 2022 and 2023, the schools announced on Wednesday, Sept. 12. The Boilermakers will make their first-ever trip to the Carrier Dome on Sept. 17, 2022 and Syracuse will return the game on Sept. 16, 2023.
"We are pleased to add Purdue to our schedule," Syracuse Director of Athletics John Wildhack said. "Adding a quality Big Ten opponent will be a great challenge for our team and attractive to our fans. Like us, Purdue plays an exciting brand of football."
Syracuse is 0-1 all-time against Boilermakers. Purdue defeated the Orange 51-0 at Ross-Ade Stadium in the 2004 season opener.
The two programs have combined for 1,330 all-time victories. Syracuse has 722 wins in its history, while the Boilermakers have 608.
Orange head coach Dino Babers was an assistant at Purdue from 1991-93. The Boilermakers are currently led by head coach Jeff Brohm.
The addition of the Purdue series leaves two non-conference slots for Syracuse to fill in 2022 and 2023. Game dates and opponents for those seasons are below:
2022
Sept. 17 vs. Purdue
TBD vs. Notre Dame
ACC home games: Florida State, Louisville, NC State, Virginia
ACC away games: Boston College, Clemson, Pittsburgh, Wake Forest
2023
