
Knutson, Ramirez Ranked in Oracle/ITA Preseason Poll

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse tennis senior Gabriela Knutson is ranked No. 5 in singles, and the pair of Knutson and junior Miranda Ramirez is ranked No. 4 in doubles in the Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Division I Women's Preseason National Rankings, which were released this week ahead of the 2018 fall season.
Knutson finished last season ranked No. 8 nationally in singles. She became the first Orange tennis student-athlete to earn All-American recognition since Erica O'Neill in 1995.
Knutson, a native of the Czech Republic, ended last year's campaign with a 21-5 singles record, going 12-2 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, and reached the Round of 16 in the 2018 NCAA Women's Tennis Singles Championship. She is one of nine ACC student-athletes to make the preseason rankings.
Ramirez, from San Antonio, Texas, held an 11-12 singles record and a 17-7 overall mark in doubles during her 2018 campaign.
Together, Knutson and Ramirez finished the year ranked No. 8 nationally in doubles with a 16-4 record, advancing to the Round of 16 in the 2018 NCAA Women's Tennis Doubles Championship. The dynamic duo earned All-American honors in doubles, becoming the first Orange pair to do so in school history.
Syracuse makes its return to the court this weekend, opening the fall season at the Princeton Invitational in Princeton, N.J., Sept. 14-16.
