GREENSBORO, N.C. – Three September home games and a pair of nationally-televised weeknight games in October highlight Syracuse's 2019 football schedule, which was released Wednesday by the Atlantic Coast Conference.
Â
The balanced slate features six home dates at the Carrier Dome, where the Orange were unbeaten (6-0) in 2018, and six road games.
As previously announced, the Orange begin their 130th gridiron campaign with consecutive true road games for the first time since 2010. Syracuse opens the year on Aug. 31 at Liberty in the first meeting between the programs. The following week, the Orange rekindle their rivalry with Maryland (Sept. 7). The Orange and Terps have played 36 times previously, most recently in 2014 at the Dome. Syracuse owns a 19-15-2 advantage in the all-time series.
Â
Upon returning from College Park, Syracuse will play three straight home games. The Orange kick off their home schedule and open ACC play against defending national champion Clemson on Sept. 14. The Orange and Tigers have staged thrilling games the last two seasons, including Syracuse's 27-24 victory over the Tigers the last time they visited the Dome in 2017.
Â
Non-conference clashes with Western Michigan on Sept. 21 and FCS foe Holy Cross on Sept. 28 cap the homestand. Syracuse's date with the Broncos is the return of game of a home-and-home series. The Orange won at Western Michigan 55-42 to open last season. The Holy Cross game is the centerpiece of Syracuse University's Orange Central/Homecoming Weekend and marks the first time since 1973 the Orange and Crusaders will square off on the gridiron. Â Â
Â
After the first season's first open date, conference play resumes in earnest with back-to-back, nationally-televised weeknight games. Syracuse visits NC State on Thursday, Oct. 10 in a game that will be televised by ESPN, and returns home for its annual crossover matchup with ACC Coastal Division foe Pittsburgh on Friday, Oct. 18 during the University's Family Weekend. Since their win over Kansas State in the 2010 New Era Pinstripe Bowl, the Orange are 15-3 in non-Saturday games.
Â
Syracuse closes the month at Florida State on Oct. 26.
Â
November begins with a home tilt against Boston College (Nov. 2), followed by the team's second open date. After the bye, Syracuse is on the road for consecutive games at Duke (Nov. 16) and Louisville (Nov. 23). The Orange host Wake Forest on Nov. 30 in the regular-season finale.
Â
Syracuse's 12 opponents combined for an 83-69 (.546) record in 2018. Seven qualified for bowl games last season, with Clemson, Duke and Wake Forest each winning their postseason games.
Â
The 15th annual Dr Pepper Atlantic Coast Conference Football Championship Game will be played on Saturday, Dec. 7 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.
Â
New season ticket orders and renewals for 2019 are currently being accepted. Tickets for next season's six-game home slate start at $100 for Syracuse University Young Alumni (Class of 2015 to Class of 2019 graduates) and $125 for the general public. They can be purchased online (Cuse.com/tickets), by phone (888-DOME-TIX) and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B).
Â
The deadline to renew current season tickets is March 8.
Â
The on-sale date for individual game tickets, prices, additional theme days and promotions will be announced later this spring.
The Orange are coming off a 10-3 season in which they won six of their last seven games, including a victory in the Camping World Bowl over West Virginia. Syracuse finished the season ranked No. 15 in both national polls and was recently named the 2018 ECAC FBS Team of the Year.
