Greensboro, N.C. – There was little doubt that Tiana Mangakahia would be named this week's Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week after Sunday's 27-point performance lifting the No. 14 Orange past No. 25 Virginia Tech, 75-73, in overtime. She averaged 20 points, 5.5 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game over Syracuse's 2-0 road week to start conference play.
Mangakahia scored 13 points and dished eight assists in an 84-75 win over Clemson on Thursday night. All 13 of her points came in the second half including a trio of three-pointers.
In Sunday's matinee against the nationally ranked Hokies, Mangakahia scored a game-high 27 points and added six rebounds, nine assists and two turnovers in the overtime victory. Nineteen of her points were in the second half and she scored four of Syracuse's eight points in overtime to hand the Hokies their first home loss in almost a year (Feb. 25, 2018 vs. Miami).
Mangakahia shares this week's ACC Player of the Week award with Miami's Beatrice Mompremier. The Brisbane, Australia, native was previously named ACC Player of the Week on Nov. 26. This is her fourth weekly award of her career with the Orange.
Syracuse moved up to No. 12 in this week's AP Top 25 Poll and returns home to the Carrier Dome to host North Carolina on Sunday, Jan. 13 for Girl Scout Day. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m. on RSN. Tickets are available online.
