
Syracuse No. 15 in Final National Polls

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange football team finished No. 15 in both the final Associated Press Top 25 Poll and Amway Coaches Poll on Tuesday, Jan. 8. It's the first time Syracuse has appeared in the final college football rankings since finishing 14th in both polls at the conclusion of the 2001 season.

Syracuse earned 683 points in the AP rankings and 720 points in the coaches' rankings to move up two spots from No. 17 after defeating West Virginia in the Camping World Bowl.

A finalist for three national coach of the year awards, Dino Babers guided the Orange to a 10-3 overall record and a 6-2 mark in ACC play. Syracuse won six of its last seven games and set a school record with five 50+ point performances during the course of the year.

The Orange ranked 11th nationally in scoring offense (40.2 ppg) and shattered the program record with 523 points in 13 games. In addition, they matched the team season record with 62 total touchdowns, including a record 38 rushing scores.

Defensively, Syracuse finished third in the FBS in turnovers gained (31), fifth in interceptions (18), fifth in fumbles recovered (13), and sixth in sacks (3.31 per game). The Orange's 43 sacks were the most in program history.

Syracuse opens the 2019 campaign on Aug. 31 at Liberty. The Orange will also face Maryland (Sept. 7), Western Michigan (Sept. 21) and Holy Cross (Sept. 28) next season in non-conference action. The ACC portion of the 2019 schedule is expected to be released later this month.

New season ticket orders and renewals for 2019 Orange football are currently being accepted. Tickets for next season's six-game home slate start at $100 for Syracuse University Young Alumni (Class of 2015 to Class of 2019 graduates) and $125 for the general public. They may be purchased online (Cuse.com/tickets), by phone (888-DOME-TIX) and at the Carrier Dome Box Office (Gate B).
