Orange Wear Down Ravens in Final Exhibition

SYRACUSE, N.Y - Three-point shooting was the difference once again as Syracuse wore down Carleton (Canada) and won its final exhibition, 77-58. Elijah Hughes led the Orange with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Syracuse converted 10 shots from behind the arc to four for the Ravens.
RAVENS TAKE EARLY FLIGHT
Carleton took a 12-6 advantage into the first T.V. timeout. The Ravens went 5-for-9 from the field in the first four and a half minutes of the contest and out-rebounded the Orange, 7-3. Three pointers from Yasiin Joseph and Munis Tutu propelled the visitors to their early lead.
Syracuse's scoring came from two Hughes 3-pointers. The redshirt junior went 5-for-7 from behind the arc in the Orange's victory over Daemen Saturday night and followed that with two long range makes Tuesday.
ORANGE BACK ON TOP
'Cuse took its first lead of the game, 16-15, with 11 minutes remaining in the first half on Buddy Boeheim's second three-pointer. Boeheim was the first Orange player in double figures. The sophomore guard put up 12 points in the first 12 minutes and was 3-for-4 from long range.
A successful four-point play and another made three on the next possession from freshman Joseph Girard III put Syracuse on top, 33-29, with 4:25 remaining in the first 20 minutes. Five consecutive points, including a 3-ball from sophomore Jalen Carey gave the Orange a 10-point cushion heading into the break, their largest of the half.
The Ravens challenged Syracuse to begin the second half and the Orange only increased their lead to 12 in the first eight and a half minutes.
SEALING THE DEAL
A 7-0 run for the Orange, capped off by another Girard three, gave the home team a 72-52 lead with just over four minutes remaining in regulation, effectively putting Carleton away. Girard ended the night with 14 points in 16 minutes, converting five of his seven shots.
