NEWTON, Mass. -- Â Syracuse's men's soccer team took an early lead but Boston College rallied to record a 2-1 victory in the regular-season finale for both teams. The Orange enter next week's ACC Tournament with a 7-5-4 overall record. Syracuse is the No. 10 seed in the conference championship after posting a 2-4-2 record in league play and will take on No. 7 seed North Carolina in Chapel Hill on Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 4 p.m. in the first round.
Â
"This is a difficult one for us," said Syracuse head coach Ian McIntyre. "I feel like we left this one slip away. We were good in the first half. We were up a goal and up a man. But goals change games and they scored right before halftime when we got caught on a counterattack. We probably didn't play our best in the second half. We didn't think we were in danger and we gave up another soft goal. We didn't do a good job responding to going down."
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Syracuse offense started off strong with 10 shots in the first half. Sophomore Ryan Raposo scored his 13th goal of the season off a free kick in the 34th minute to put the Orange up 1-0. Boston College answered in the 42nd minute to even the score.
Â
The score stayed that way until the 78th minute when Mike Suski scored off a cross to give the Eagles the lead for good.
Â
Orange goalkeeper Christian Miesch tied his season high with four saves.
Â
OF NOTE
Raposo's goal is his 13th of the season and ties him for eighth place on Syracuse's single season record list. In addition, he now has 31 points, which also rank eighth on the single-season record list. The last Syracuse player to have 31 points on the season was in 1985.
Â
UP NEXT
The first round of the ACC Tournament takes place on Tuesday, Nov. 5 and Wednesday, Nov. 6. The winner of the Syracuse-North Carolina first-round match will face No. 2 seed Virginia in Charlottesville on Sunday, Nov. 10.
