
Yastrub, Ricks Named Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week

Yuliia Yastrub (volleyball) and John-Austin Ricks (men's soccer) are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week.

Yastrub, a junior and native of Nikolaev, Ukraine, is a psychology major and a philosophy minor in the College of Arts and Sciences. She has earned a spot on the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Academic Honor Roll in each of her first two years and has been on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in three of her four semesters on campus.

Yastrub has been a key component for Syracuse volleyball, ranking in the top-five on the team in kills (66), digs (129), blocks (55.0), service aces (15) and assists (31).

Ricks, a senior from Fairfield, Conn., is majoring in entrepreneurship and emerging enterprises in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. He was included on the 2018-19 ACC Academic Honor Roll and earned a spot on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in three semesters.
The midfielder has started 12 games this season for 'Cuse men's soccer, posting two assists. Ricks has made 43 starts in his Orange career, scoring five goals.Â

Yastrub and the volleyball team have two more matches this season, both at home. The Orange welcome Boston College to the Women's Building this Sunday, the match starting at 1 p.m. Admission and parking are free and the action will be broadcast live on ACC Network Extra.

Syracuse men's soccer hosts Rhode Island in the first round of the NCAA tournament Thursday at the SU Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Check back in to Cuse.com for broadcast details.
