Orange Take Care of Bucknell, 97-46

SYRACUSE, N.Y – A career-high 22 points from Buddy Boeheim led the way in Syracuse's (4-1) 97-46 victory against Bucknell (2-4), Saturday afternoon at the Carrier Dome. The victory was the Orange's fourth straight this season.

Four different Orange ended the day in double figures. Along with Boeheim's 22, Elijah Hughes provided 21, Joseph Girard III added 12 and freshman Jesse Edwards had a career-high 10 points off the bench.

HUGHES HEAT CHECK
Eight of the first 10 Orange points in the contest came from Hughes as Syracuse built a 10-5 lead. The forward knocked down two 3-balls and added a jumper from the top of the key. Hughes stayed hot as the half went on, burying two more 3-pointers to push the Orange lead to 31-12 with 9:30 remaining in the half. The Beacon, N.Y native ended the half with 16 points, four rebounds and three assists.

TALE OF THE TURNOVERS
The Orange forced 13 Bison turnovers in the first half and converted them into 19 points. Syracuse recorded seven steals in the first 20 minutes, led by Marek Dolezaj and Girard with two each. Â

HOME TEAM COOKING
Back-to-back 3-pointers from Girard and Boeheim gave the Orange a 48-21 lead with three minutes to play in the opening half. Syracuse took a 51-26 cushion into the locker room, scoring the most points in the first half since putting up 52 points against Eastern Michigan in 2016. The Orange connected on 18-of-31 (.581) percent from the field and drilled eight 3-pointers.

Boeheim went 4-for-4 from behind the arc in the second half to bring his point total to a career-high 22. The sophomore's six 3-pointers and eight field goals also set new personal bests. Â

Syracuse put together a 12-0 run early in the second half to push its lead to 37. Boeheim hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the stretch. Eventually, the Orange margin swelled to as many 53 points, and Syracuse outscored Bucknell after the break, 46-20.
