
Lukacs, Armstrong Named Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week

Kendra Lukacs (volleyball) and Andrew Armstrong (football) are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week. Â

Lukacs, a senior from Calgary, Alberta, is majoring in policy studies in the College of Arts and Sciences. She has been on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll three times and has earned a spot on the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Academic Honor Roll in two consecutive seasons.

Lukacs has played in 311 sets over four seasons for the Orange. She posted a career-high 190 kills in her sophomore season and had a personal best 18 kills in a 2017 victory over Boston College. Since missing the first part of this season with an injury, Lukacs has been a consistent member of the Orange starting lineup.

Armstrong, a senior and native of Youngstown, Ohio, is a selected studies in education major in the School of Education. He was a part of the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in the fall of 2016 and earned ACC Academic Honor Roll honors following his freshman season. Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in high school, Armstrong actively supports the CNY chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

The linebacker has started all 11 games this season for Syracuse football, totaling 78 tackles for second-most on the team. He has also forced a fumble and caught an interception. Armstrong has accumulated 152 tackles in 48 games in his Orange career.

Lukacs and Syracuse volleyball close out the regular season Friday at 2 p.m. against Clemson at the Women's Building for Senior Day. Her and classmate Aliah Bowllan will be honored in a pregame ceremony. The match will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra. Admission and parking are free.

Armstrong is one of 22 Orange football players being honored on Senior Day Saturday at the Dome when 'Cuse takes on Wake Forest. Kickoff is set for 12:30 p.m. and the game will be televised on the Regional Sports Network.
