
Bowllan, Leahy Named Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week

Aliah Bowllan (volleyball) and Jake Leahy (men's soccer) are the Syracuse University Scholar-Athletes of the Week.

Bowllan, a senior and native of Pittsford, N.Y., is a public health major in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. She has earned a place on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in four consecutive semesters and was included on the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Academic Honor Roll in 2018 and 2019. Bowllan has also been a part of the Citizens of the World organization, Varsity Club and the Business Honor Society. Â

Serving as the libero for the Orange, Bowllan has accumulated 248 kills in 14 matches. She set a career-high with 22 digs in Friday's victory against Notre Dame and broke that with 24 digs Sunday in a win against Louisville.

Leahy, a redshirt junior from Brick, N.J., is majoring in finance in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management. He has been on the Athletic Director's Honor Roll in five of his six semesters on campus and earned a spot on the ACC Academic Honor Roll three years in a row.

Leahy is a backup goalkeeper for the men's soccer team. He recorded a shutout in his first collegiate match in 2018 against St. Bonaventure in a 7-0 triumph.

Bowllan and Syracuse volleyball travel to Boston College for a midweek date with the Eagles this Wednesday, Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. The Orange then return home to take on Virginia Tech Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the Women's Building. Sunday's match is Military Appreciation Day. The games will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra. Admission and parking are free to all volleyball home matches.

The men's soccer team kicks off its ACC Tournament run at North Carolina on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The Orange enter the postseason as the 10-seed after finishing the regular season with a 7-5-4 record. The game will be televised live on the ACC Network.
