Shemanova Earns First Team All-ACC Honors

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Syracuse volleyball sophomore Polina Shemanova has earned First Team All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) honors for the second consecutive season. Shemanova was one of 14 players voted to the ACC first team, and one of just four unanimous selections. She is one of five Syracuse players to earn All-ACC honors since the Orange joined the conference in 2013.
The Orange captain was named ACC Player of the Week three times in 2019. Shemanova finished her sophomore campaign ranked first in the conference in kills (485), kills per set (5.16), points (545.5) and points per set (5.80). Her kills per set mark ranks fifth nationally and set a new Syracuse season record. She set a program record for kills in a season since the 25-point scoring method was implemented in 2008, and led the Orange with 31 service aces and 268 digs.
Shemanova blasted 36 kills in a victory against Louisville on Nov. 3, setting a new 'Cuse record for kills in a match. She followed that performance by posting 32 kills in her next match, a win at Boston College, which ranks third in program history. The outside hitter posted 20 or more kills in 12 of 25 matches and recorded 12 double-doubles.
Syracuse ended the 2019 campaign with a 12-13 record, including a 9-9 mark in the ACC.
